Tiamatine’s society operates in a similar form to advanced medieval feudalism – each confederate is centralized around a permanent settlement with a decisive ruler or governing body, and holds dominion over the nearest small settlements and interests. Every confederate is responsible for its constituents, and maintaining its own affairs such as sustainability, economics, and defense. They are considered pseudo-sovereign but are forbidden from independently making international decisions that involve military force, development, or exclusive trade contracts.

In Tiamatine, a person remains a citizen in the province s/he was born in for the entirety of their lives unless overruled specifically by a court order. Usually, court orders are only obtained if there is an adoption, a serious legal dispute, or if the person has resided and worked in a different province for the majority of their lives and has no plan to ever return.


Each female is fitted with a silver bangle and each male is fitted with a silver chain or collar which designates their province of birth, star cycle, and profession (if already designated at their coming-of-age) through a series of jewels and markings.

Religion is highly codified and expected to be observed, sometimes by law.

The Youth House is an important developmental stage where children are educated and socialized.

Apprenticeships are highly competitive.

A very important factor of Oceanic government and society is the highly respected court system. Each province has its own Low Court and High Court, which are overseen in turn by the confederation’s Low Court and Grand Court.

Provincial Courts - Local courts have only two levels – a Low Court which handles all civil disputes and a High Court which handles all criminal disputes and civil appeals.
